Each year the Ironmanâ Sports Medicine Conference is proud to feature an “Ironman Legend” to speak about his/her Ironman experience. For 2017, we are honored to have Joanna Zeiger, PhD as our Ironman Legend Guest Speaker.


                                                           Career Highlights

Joanna competed as a professional triathlete from 1998-2010. Throughout her athletic career, Joanna was national champion in three distances: Olympic (2001), Half-Ironman (2008) and Ironman (2005).


She placed fourth in the Sydney Olympics and was the 2008 Ironman 70.3 World Champion. She excelled at all three distances in the sport of triathlon, winning races in the Olympic, Half Ironman, and Ironman distances. She was an Olympic trials qualifier in three sports: marathon, triathlon and swimming.


In addition, Joanna has a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology from John Hopkins University.
