Thanks to IRONMAN®, one fully-registered conference attendee's name will be drawn to WIN A SLOT IN THE 2009 FORD IRONMAN® WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.
Entry into the 2009 FORD IRONMAN® WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in Hawaii is limited to approximately 1,800 athletes from around the globe, who must qualify through Ironman®-affiliated events held worldwide. Additionally, each year Ironman® offers 200 lottery slots that require completion of a triathlon consisting of 70.3 miles or greater (1.2 mi. swim, 56 mi. bike and 13.1 mi. run). The race officials receive more than 6,500 applications for the lottery. At the 2007 Ironman Sports Medicine Conference, winner Dr Deani Iverson had a one in 56 chance of winning. PLEASE NOTE THAT PARTICIPATING IN THE IRONMAN TRIALTHON REQUIRES A TREMENDOUS PHYSICIAL, PERSONAL, PROFESSIONAL AND FINANCIAL COMMITMENT. IN FAIRNESS TO ALL INTERESTED ENTRANTS, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THIS LOTTERY IF YOU ARE UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO MAKE A SERIOUS INVESTMENT OF YOUR TIME AND ENERGY!
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ( all rules are subject to change at anytime)
- You must be a fully-paid conference registrant of the “Official” 2008 Ironman Sports Medicine Conference and be present for the drawing held on Thursday October 9, 2008 at approximately 5:00 p.m. at the Alii Surf Ballroom of the Royal Kona Resort in Kailua-Kona, HI. "No proxies will be accepted" you must be present to enter and/or win.
- You must volunteer in the medical tent on race day (separate registration required).
- Faculty, speakers, corporate sponsors, staff and their families and/or guests of the Ironman Sports Medicine Conference are not eligible.
- Past finishers (within the past five years) in the Ironman® World Championship are not eligible.
- Within 30 days of winning the lottery, a physician must certify you are physically able to complete the race with proper training. Documentation is required.
- The athlete has to be an age grouper (i.e. Amateur). If you competed as a professional previously but do not currently hold a professional card you are eligible for this lottery.
- You must complete a triathlon consisting of 70.3 miles or greater (1.2 mi. swim, 56 mi. bike and 13.1 mi. run) by August 1, 2008. The triathlon event does not have to be a WTC-affiliated event, but should be a USAT sanctioned race. You must submit proof of completion to BOTH the Ironman Sports Medicine Conference and the IRONMAN® World Championship Race Office.
- We regret that this offer does not apply to physically challenged athletes whose participation is governed by the Ironman® World Championship.
- The Planning Committee reserves the right to determine if a participant is physically fit to compete.
- Past attendees of the Ironman Sports Medicine Conference may submit 1 entry for each year they have attended to a maximum of 3 entries. Entrants that misrepresent the number of conferences they have attended will be automatically disqualified.
RULES AND POLICIES FOR THE LOTTERY WINNER: ( all rules are subject to change at anytime)
- All entry fees, applications and other documentation are the responsibility of the participant.
- The participant must meet all the criteria of the Ironman® World Championship.
- Travel expenses, hotel and other related expenses to the Ironman® World Championship are the responsibility of the participant.
- You must train for the race in good faith.
- You must immediately notify the Ironman Sports Medicine Conference should you decide not to participate for any reason in the 2009 race.
- In the event that the lottery winner is not able to participate, the first alternate will be notified and must accept the lottery slot within 7 days of notification. Should notification not be received, the next alternate will be selected.
- You must be employed as a health care provider at the time of the lottery and the 2009 Ford IRONMAN® World Championship.
- You agree and authorize the Ironman Sports Medicine Conference to use your name, city/state, and picture for the purposes of promoting future Ironman Sports Medicine Conference events.
- You will be offered complimentary registration to the 2009 Ironman Sports Medicine Conference.
- You must update the Planning Committee on your training/status monthly via email, fax or post
- ( cmxtravel@cmxtravel.com) or fax 1-781-735-0558. Failure to provided monthly updates will result in disqualification.
- You agree to prepare a 30 minute lecture on your experience training for the IRONMAN® and present at the 2009 Ironman Sports Medicine Conference.
- The Ironman Sports Medicine Conference reserves the right to terminate this offer should the participant not comply with the above conditions.
- Three (3) additional names are drawn as alternates should the winner be unable to participate.
- The Ironman Sports Medicine Conference reserves the right to amend and change the above rules/policies and eligibility requirements without notice.
HOW TO ENTER IN THE DRAWING
- If you register for the 2008 Ironman Sports Medicine Conference as a fully paid attendee and you meet the criteria above, you are eligible. Register on line at www.cmxtravel.com.
- On Thursday October 9, 2008 at the Royal Kona Resort each interested person will submit their names and four (4) names will be drawn: a winner and three alternates.
- 3. You do not need to pre-register for the drawing, fill out a form in advance or notify us. Registration for the conference does not mean your name will be automatically entered. It only means you are eligible. You have until the last day of the conference in Kona to enter.

OUR 2008 IRONMAN LOTTERY WINNER!
Thanks to the Ironman, each year at the conclusion of the conference, qualifying attendees enter their names in a lottery to win a slot in next year’s Ironman Triathlon.
In 2007, conference attendee Dr. Deani Iversen of Portland, Oregon is our 2008 Ironman Lottery Winner. Dr Iversen’s name was drawn from approximately 50 interested entrants to win a slot in the 2008 Ironman.
