Restaurants
There are several outstanding restaurants in Kona, Waimea and within the resorts that can accommodate groups or individual reservations. Participants may dine as one group at many restaurants. A partially set menu with pre set appetizer, choice of salads or soups and choice of three entrees can be pre arranged. Or guests may enjoy a less formal evening dining in a choice of several restaurants, again with a partially "set menu" or a la carte. Personalized menus provided. Detailed descriptions and photos available. Most restaurants are comfortable with 30 to 50 pax at one time and still provide excellent service. Large groups will require early (6:00 to 6:30) or late (8:00-8:30) seating. Small groups of 10 or less can be scattered over the course of the evening. Menus and rates provided on request.
KONA: 30 - 40 minutes distance from Kohala Hotels
Kona Inn - 30 pax maximum Large groups at 6:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. only. This beautiful restaurant, located on the ocean in the center of the Kona Inn Shopping Village, is a must. A spectacular setting and excellent dining make this a truly enjoyable experience. Specialties on their extensive menu include steak, prime rib and a wonderful selection of fresh island fish.
Huggo's - 50 pax. Dine on the water and watch the manta rays swim just below your table. This long-time established Kona restaurant features steak, seafood and excellent salad selections. A great sunset location and a local favorite.
Bubba Gumps - 30-50 pax.Just opened in Kona. Beautiful ocean side dining in fun and lively atmosphere. Bubba Gump look a likes available for any occasion!
Hard Rock Cafe - 175 pax maximum - buy out recommended. Located in Kona at the Coconut Grove Market Place, this is the ultimate Rock ùn Roll dining experience. Great fun and a beautiful ocean view!
Martini Yacht Club - 30 pax maximum.
KAWAIHAE: 20 minutes distance from Kohala Hotels
Cafe Pesto - 30 pax. Also in Kawaihae, this quaint and casual cafe dining experience offers excellent specialties of pasta, pesto, exotic pizza and exciting salads.
Tres Hombres - 30 pax. Overlooking the harbor in Kawaihae, Margaritas, fresh Mexican dishes and traditional selections are featured.
Kawaihae Harbor Grill - 20 - 30 pax. Excellent food in a casual atmosphere. Reasonably priced, fine service, solid drinks!
WAIMEA: 20 - 30 minutes distance from Kohala Hotels
Merriman's - 30 - 50 with 125 pax maximum capacity. Fresh Big Island products prepared in an exciting, contemporary manner. The Chef serves his own ùHawaiian regional cuisineù which includes fresh lamb or beef from the surrounding ranches and fish taken from local waters.
Daniel Thiebaut's - room sizes approximately 60, 50, 36, 24, 10, 14 for a total of about 194 guests. This new and exciting restaurant, with all the charm of old-time Paniolo Waimea, is a historical building that was once a country store and is full of character and charm.
Parker Ranch Grill - 30 - 50 pax. Rustic atmosphere, hearty food in a unique setting - fireplaces, artwork and Paniolo memorabilia. Home style cooking and prime rib are their specialties.
Koa House Grill - 30 pax with a maximum capacity of 120 pax. This Rustic steak house includes Pacific Rim specials in a relaxed dining atmosphere.
Edelweiss - 16 - 20 pax maximum. Enjoy your dinner in a cozy, chalet-like room with high ceilings and koa panels. Try the Wiener schnitzel, veal, rack of lamb or fish dishes. The menu is creative and hearty. Waimea's first fine dining restaurant. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
WAIKOLOA RESORT: 10 - 20 minutes distance from Kohala Hotels
Roy's - 60 pax. Large groups at 6:30 or 8:30 only. Enjoy the unique fusion of Asian-Pacific flavors and classic European techniques. Casual dining and unusually elegant fare. Located at the Kingsù Shops in Waikoloa overlooking the golf green waterways.
Big Island Steak House - 30 pax. The best prime rib in town, along with exciting fresh fish preparations. Something for everyone. Located in the Waikoloa Resort Kingsù Shopping Center.
Grand Palace Chinese Restaurant - 30 pax. Located in the Kingsù Shops and featuring elegant Chinese decor with traditional Cantonese and authentic Chinese and Szechuan meals.

- The Gallery Restaurant & Knickers Bar - Continental Cuisines on the Green. This is a casual golf course restaurant of of the "bus loop."
