20th Annual Update in Orthopaedic surgery conference'

Register NowOverall Course Objectives
The mission of the 20th Annual Update in Orthopaedic Surgery Conference is to provide the following educational opportunity for orthopaedic surgeons on an annual basis:

  1. Annually update the knowledge base and surgical expertise of orthopaedic surgeons in the specific areas of trauma, arthroscopy, and total joint replacement. This goal is to be achieved by various teaching methods which will include lectures, and videos which demonstrate current techniques and clinical guide-lines pertaining to these topics.
  2. Annually update attendees with current national and regional health care legislation as its implementation pertains to orthopaedic surgeons and their patients.
  3. Annually disseminate the current national Kaiser registry data for trauma, sports medicine, and total joint replacement.
  4. Annually review the current and anticipated updates for the clinical use of the Kaiser electronic medical record(EMR) as it pertains to orthopaedic surgeons. This will include discussion of best practices and tips to enhance EMR usage by orthopaedic surgeons.
  5. Annually provide update in clinical areas of interest which may be suggested by previous course attendees and a survey of various orthopaedic surgeons obtained by the national Kaiser orthopaedic surgery chief group.

Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the current pros and cons of current health care legislation nationally and regionally.
  2. To review the various arthroscopic techniques for shoulder and hip pathology.
  3. Understand and improve individual use of the electronic medical record.
  4. Review current concepts in orthopaedic trauma.
  5. Discuss current concepts in total joint replacement.

Accreditation Statement

This activity has been planned and implemented with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Hawaii Consortium for Continuing Medical Education (HCCME) and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Region. The Hawaii Consortium for Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation Statement

The Hawaii Consortium for Continuing Medical Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 16.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ . Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
